Reaction to Fire Testing and CE Certification of Cables

Objectives

Understand the requirements of EN 50575 for construction cables within the framework of the CPR (Construction Products Regulation)
Learn the reaction to fire test methods and classification criteria defined in EN 13501-6
Gain knowledge of the EXAP (Extended Application) standard EN 50576 and its role in the certification process
Understand the procedures for CE marking, including factory production control (FPC), testing, reporting, and certification.

Overview of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and its scope for power, control, and communication cables
EN 50575 product standard: obligations of manufacturers, assessment and verification of constancy of performance (AVCP), and system 1+ requirements
Reaction to fire classification according to EN 13501-6: classes (Aca to Fca), additional criteria (s, d, and a), and their meaning
Test methods involved
Test sample preparation and testing conditions
Test report content and requirements
EN 50576 Extended Application (EXAP): scope, limitations, and use in product range coverage
Factory Production Control (FPC): audits and surveillance according to EN ISO/IEC 1706
CE marking and declaration of performance (DoP) preparation
